With R&D capabilities unparalleled in Australia and matched by few globally, our facilities for high-energy ion beam research represent decades of strategic investment in the national interest.
The Australian National University is the project lead and hosts the Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility and the Australian Facility for Ion Implantation Research. The University of Melbourne hosts the Experimental Condensed Matter Physics Accelerator Laboratory.
HIA is enabled by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). It is operated by a consortium of institutions as an unincorporated joint venture, with the Australian National University as Lead Agent.
