Aps scholarships to study nuclear science

Public Service announces scholarships to ANU to build sovereign nuclear capacity

The Australian Public Service has announced scholarships for its employees to study nuclear science at ANU or UNSW.

The move follows the announcement in September of an enhanced trilateral security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States (AUKUS), which would see the Royal Australia Navy acquiring nuclear-powered submarines.

The scholarships are “in direct support of the establishment of a nuclear-powered submarine capability in Australia. This opportunity would see successful graduates able to take on exciting roles in support of nuclear-powered submarines and / or nuclear stewardship at the completion of their studies.”

The announcement describes the scholarships as a new and exciting initiative an area of critical significance for the growth of the nation.

Applications are sought from eligible ongoing Australian Public Service (APS) employees wishing to undertake full time study.
