Heavy Ion Accelerators becomes the maiden sponsoring institution of the Academy for Collaborative Research Infrastructure (ACRI) membership.
ACRI was formerly launched at the CORES 2024 Conference in Brisbane earlier this year. It is an independent, not-for-profit, organisation established to serve the research infrastructure community with the purpose to educate, train and develop the workforce employed in the institutions operating the national research infrastructure facilities.
HIA CEO Dr Tom McGoram notes:
“ACRI is a unique initiative in Australia and the region. The national research infrastructure is only viable if there is the workforce capable to operate, maintain and uplift the capabilities to meet the current and future demands of scientists and industry. At Heavy Ion Accelerators we are committed to provide equitable learning and development opportunities to all staff. Therefore, we strongly support the collective efforts of the community to alleviate the existing barriers in the higher education sector and welcome the establishment of ACRI. We are proud to be the first Institutional Member and look forward to supporting ACRI initiatives aimed to upskill and develop the research infrastructure workforce and support equitable, clear and rewarding career pathways.”
